HELP IN A MEDICAL CENTER/PARAMEDIC COMPANY

This medical center responds to medical and traumatic emergencies in this area of Costa Rica 24 hours/day, 7 day a week.  The goal of this center is to provide quality health care. The medical professionals stabilize patients and, if necessary, transport them to the hospital.  Volunteers can work with the paramedics in the ambulances or with the doctors in their practice, or both if they have the abilities.

Volunteer activities may include:

  • Attending emergencies
  • Accompanying paramedics in the ambulances to the place where the help is needed
  • Assisting the doctors with patients including: putting bandages, applying medicine and similar tasks
  • Helping keep the medical facility clean
  • Depending on the experience and education of the volunteers, they may help the doctors with more advance procedures, including injections
  • And other tasks that may be needed at the center.

Don't volunteer abroad with cash! As an alternative to traveler's checks, GeoVisions suggests the ARC Travel MasterCard, a pre-paid debit card that works globally.  We use them here at GeoVisions rather than cash, traveler's checks or our own credit cards.  You can refill the card via the Internet and GeoVisions will credit your program fee $5 for each card you buy.
