TEACH ENGLISH IN THAILAND TO CHILDREN AND TEENS AND RECEIVE A LOCAL STIPEND

Go beyond the beaten path and experience Thailand the way no tourist ever could.  GeoVisions' Teach in Thailand program allows you to live and work in one of the world’s favorite holiday destinations while helping to improve the English skills of local children and experiencing and engaging in an important cultural exchange.  You will find a rich culture built upon a fascinating history and a country populated by a caring, vibrant people.  You will truly come to learn why this country is often referred to as “The Land of a Thousand Smiles”.

teach abroadPlacements for the Teach in Thailand program are either Primary or Secondary schools and most participants will have the option of teaching at both levels.  Most placements are available in the Northern and Central provinces but they extend throughout a wide range of urban and rural locations.  This is a paid position with a minimum salary of 15,000 Baht per month (approximately US$ 450).  With a TEFL certificate, it is possible to earn more.  A free flight home will also be provided by the host institution upon successful completion of a full academic year beginning in May.

GeoVisions accepts only native English speakers for Teach in Thailand.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Teaching English in a classroom setting working to improve students listening and speaking skills.
  • Prepare in-class activities focused on language development such as dialogues, games, pronunciation and grammar activities, songs, role-playing and conversation groups.
  • Plan lessons and presentations to your class.
  • Attend some faculty meetings.
  • Help plan and implement some extra-curricular activities (after-school English clubs, art projects, sporting activities etc.)
  • Typical teaching load of 22 classes per week.

Additional Fee Information Host institutions provide comfortable accommodations and the cost of living in Thailand is very low. The salary may not seem particularly high in Western terms, but it is generous in local terms—about twice what local teachers earn—and wages can easily finance independent travel after the semester. 
Language Training Beginning Thai during orientation.  Airport Transfers Included 
Orientation 1 week all inclusive orientation in Bangkok is included in the fee.  Flights Not included but a one-way ticket home upon successful completion of an academic year contract beginning in May.

Room Accommodations vary from apartments to faculty housing, but usually include bedroom, bath, sitting room, cooking facilities and most utilities.

Locations The locations vary depending on the school placement. It will be in either urban & rural: Bangkok, central, eastern Thailand; limited placements in north Thailand. 
Working Hours 35-40 hours/wk. 22 classes per week, the norm in Thailand. 
Language Requirements Native English speakers only.
