Conversation Partners speak conversational English to tourist police officers, hotel staff, local business professionals, teachers, tour guides and more. You do not need to have teaching experience to be a Conversation Partner. You just need to meet with your group each day (between 15 and 20 hours each week) and converse in English with them. It's fun and rewarding to teach english abroad.
What is the difference between a teacher and a Conversation Partner? A lot! Conversation Partners are placed with the "Tourist Police" to help officers with their English to better communicate with tourists. They are placed with tour guides and tour companies. Multi-national companies use Conversation Partners too. Some Partners go into schools, but mostly to help teachers and staff develop better English skills. Travel and tourism schools also have a need for Conversation Partners.
You are teaching english abroad to small groups of people who have a strong desire to improve their conversational English, not learn grammar. You are not teaching abroad in a traditional classroom.
Live with a family, in a dorm, or maybe a hotel. The program includes a private room and usually 2 meals per day (Breakfast and Dinner). It is an amazing opportunity for the more independent traveler who wants to immerse themselves in the culture and travel, and have a fun and rewarding experience all at the same time.
