WHAT WE DO AT GEOVISIONS
Holiday Work & Travel
University students from over ten countries come to the United States on the holiday between the end of their academic year, and the beginning of the next year, to take seasonal positions with American employers.
GeoVisions will find a job for you at a qualified employer in the United States. Most often these are seasonal jobs, in positions where there are not enough American workers to fill a need. Typical jobs include:
* Fast food (like McDonalds) team positions
* Waiters and waitresses
* Housekeepers
* General maintenance
* Ride operators at theme parks
* Cashiers and store clerks
* Ski and beach resort positions
Most GeoVisions employers have had foreign students work for them before, and most of our employers have selected GeoVisions for many years. All of our employers arrange housing for students, and, before you leave your home country, you will know your general type of job, your wages, and the cost of housing.
Global Work & Service Programs
GeoVisions offers US volunteers and students once in a lifetime opportunities to volunteer as English teachers, or to work as
conversation partners
to help students, and sometimes managers or office staff to improve their English skills. You don't need to have teaching credentials because you will get a lot of guidance from local teachers. Each teaching assignment is different, and your experience could vary from teaching a whole classroom to one-on-one conversations. Take the internationally recognized TEFL course and many of the volunteer positions become paid assignments!
We also offer many opportunities to volunteer on conservation projects to help control beach erosion, or work on an organic farm. We support many important community service projects, animal rescue efforts and working with handicapped children in very unique settings. Imagine living in a South African game preserve assisting orphaned Cheetahs and Lions. Sand and water is more your thing? Head to Costa Rica to count Brown Turtle eggs! Some projects we support assist children with HIV and there are many opportunities to assist the construction efforts to rebuild schools. We even have a very unique program to teach physically challenged youth to ride horses.
Whether you want to teach, rescue wild animals, work on conservation efforts or assist in community projects, all GeoVisions
programs are rich with opportunity to learn about another country and it's people. When the program ends, you can use your location as a base for further travel in the region.
GeoVisions supports good causes worldwide by matching volunteers' skills with worthwhile projects abroad. This program is not supported by external funding but by the volunteers themselves. The fee you pay covers a number of key services, and means that GeoVisions never has to pass any costs on to the projects themselves.
With GeoVisions, you are guaranteed a worthwhile work project and a professional support network to guide you through it. This means you spend less time organizing your trip and more time making a difference in the real world.
Volunteer projects are available in:
* Argentina
* Australia
* Brazil
* China
* Costa Rica
* India
* Namibia
* New Zealand
* Peru
* South Africa
* Spain
* Thailand
* UK
* Vietnam
* Zimbabwe
Employers Programs
GeoVisions recruits university students who can come to the US to work in seasonal jobs during their annual school vacation. We currently recruit from Asia, Europe and South America.
Under the terms of their J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa, students are allowed to work for up to four months, but not many students can actually work that long as they need to return to classes when school begins. In reality, the average work period is more like three months.
We screen all students for language ability. Not all are excellent speakers, but we know the levels of each student and can help you assign them to jobs that glean the best results for their language ability.
Our students are treated just like your American workers. They must be paid the same as you would an American in that same job. They must be handled the same regarding overtime policies. And, they should be covered on your workers's compensation policy.
You will find that most of our students are very hard workers, and they have good customer service skills.
After they work for you, the students are allowed to travel for thirty days in the US before returning home to resume their studies.
