GeoVisions' Teach in Yantai program allows you to volunteer in Yantai in Shandong Province while helping to improve the English skills of local children and experiencing and engaging in an important cultural exchange. Yantai, known as The New Gateway to the Northeast is located on the north east coast of Shandong Province, a 1.5 hour flight from Shanghai and 1 hour from Beijing. Yantai looks out over the Yellow Sea towards Dalian to the north and Korea to the East.
Placements for the Teach in Yantai program are available in kindergarten, primary and secondary schools. There are some volunteer spots in colleges and placements are in both urban and suburban of Yantai.
GeoVisions accepts only native English speakers for Teach in Yantai.
Teaching Details:- Volunteers on Teach in Yantai are assistant teachers in class.
- Volunteers assist Chinese teachers who are teaching English as English is compulsory for most schools all over China.
- The age group for the kindergarten are 5 years and below, and the age group for the primary school is from 6 to 12 years old, 13 to 15 for the junior high schools and 16 to 18 years old for the senior high school students.
- Volunteers will be mainly teaching conversational English in class by choosing their own topics. You may paint pictures and cartoons, play sport games, sing English songs, study western culture, traditions, customs and discuss any simple topics. There will be one Chinese teacher sent to each class to help the volunteer teachers in teaching.
- The average class size is about 50 students per class.
- In addition to teaching English language, you may also choose to teach science, arts, sports, or music.
Most GeoVisions programs include accommodation and meals, airport pick-up, project training, in country support, medical insurance, extensive pre-departure information and project orientation.
