LIVE WITH A PERUVIAN FAMILY AND TEACH THEM ENGLISH 15 HOURS EACH WEEK. Geovisions’ Conversation Corps provides English conversationalists the opportunity to live with a Spanish speaking Peruvian family and teach them English. This is a unique way to experience living in your teaching environment as the members of your host family are also your “students”. In this adventure, it is up to you to meet the challenge of providing fun and dynamic ways to tutor the family in English after they come from their days at school and work. We provide the materials; you provide the personality to liven up a family class or dinner conversation!
Meanwhile, you get to immerse yourself in Peruvian culture. Thanks to a focus on the exchange of cultures, you’ll be experiencing the rich history, landscape, and cuisine of Peru while your host family enjoys learning English from you.
Conversation Corps volunteers will receive instruction on how to teach English, with specific activities that can be applied in an intimate home setting. GeoVisions also includes an orientation upon your arrival and transportation to your host family.
Participants will instruct their host families in English and must be native speakers. They need to have earned a high school (secondary school) diploma or certificate, be in good health, and abide by the family’s rules and habits. Intermediate knowledge of the Spanish language is recommended. Placements are available throughout the year and can last 4, 6 or 8 weeks. Participants must devote up to 15 hours per week, Monday thru Friday, for lessons and conversation.
