LIVE WITH A JORDANIAN FAMILY AND TEACH THEM ENGLISH 15 HOURS EACH WEEK. GeoVisions' Conversation Corps provides English conversationalists a chance to live with a Jordanian family and teach them English. Because of the close proximity of the "students" this will be an amazing adventure of living in your teaching environment. This is a high-energy position. The parents have been working all day and the children have been in school but you still need to come up with fun and enthusiastic ways to teach them English. We provide the materials; you provide the personality to liven up a family class or dinner conversation!
This is also a great program for people who want to experience life in Jordan and the Jordanian culture in-depth. The program has a focus on cultural exchange and host families are not only excited to learn English but also love to share the characteristics of their country, culture and cuisine.
Bible stories, lost cities, Lawrence of Arabia - Jordan has romantic associations up to its eyeballs.
Jordan is one of the most welcoming, hospitable countries in the world. Where else could you leave your belongings on the street for hours at a time, and find them there when you get back? Where else do total strangers with nothing to sell invite you into their homes?
Conversation Corps volunteers receive instruction on how to teach English, with specific activities for teaching English in a home to a family. GeoVisions includes a two-day orientation in Amman. Transportation to the host family is also included.
Participants will instruct their host families in English and must be native speakers. They need to have earned a high school (secondary school) diploma or certificate, be in good health and abide by the family’s rules and habits.
