Hello Chris,
Orientation and arrival were fine. Margaux in the Paris office is very nice. I'm glad you reminded me about that resource (helpmeteach@geovisions.org). I will make sure to use it in the future. Besides that, everything is going very well. I really like my host family they have made sure to make me feel at home and I like it here.
Thanks for the check-up,
Eva
Hi Chris,
I'm settling in and so far, things are going well. As far as English lessons go, I'm working through the headway pre-intermediate course book because that's what Annie, the lady taking English lessons, wants. She is more interested in grammar and written work than straight conversation and I try to ensure that there is a balance of reading, speaking, listening and vocabulary work along with the grammar. I also make sure that we spend some time practicing the language introduced in the grammar. I will certainly avail myself of the teacher help desk for any other ideas.

Hi Chris,
Things are going well. I got here fine. Margeaux from the office in Paris was a great tour guide and I enjoyed my time there.
As far as teaching goes, it has been somewhat difficult. There is a wide range of levels of English knowledge in my family so to do anything together as a family is difficult - such as conversations over dinner. We go over kitchen utensils, and things like "please pass _____".
I have tried to spend time one on one with the two youngest children (although they are teens), as they know the least, but being that they know little English and I know little French, the communication between us can be somewhat difficult and lessons tend to be cut somewhat short.
I am finding small things to do, like today I baked a cake with Lea and did all the instruction in English, and we had to convert measurements, etc...
If you have any suggestions of other things to do, I would be happy to have the guidance.
