HELP A CHILD HAVE A MORE POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WHILE IN THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Costa Rica is a beautiful, developing nation known for its environmental protection and innovation. From the rainforests of the interior to the sprawling Caribbean beaches of its coasts, it is rapidly becoming a destination for travelers around the world.

Volunteers on this program can help make children’s stays in the hospital more pleasant.  Whether through recreation, assistance, or just company, children welcome the volunteers’ presence.  To help to accomplish this, volunteers should have the following:

  • Enjoyment of working with kids
  • Fantastic interpersonal skills with the patients, parents, employees and the rest of the members of the hospital community
  • A special charisma for dealing with people that need special treatment and sensitivity for the conditions and afflictions of the children at the hospital.

Volunteer Activities May Include:

  • Assisting doctors and nurses in care for children
  • Helping with patient’s therapy and recreation
  • Keep children company during their stay at the hospital

Don't volunteer abroad with cash! As an alternative to traveler's checks, GeoVisions suggests the ARC Travel MasterCard, a pre-paid debit card that works globally.  We use them here at GeoVisions rather than cash, traveler's checks or our own credit cards.  You can refill the card via the Internet and GeoVisions will credit your program fee $5 for each card you buy.
