HELP RESCUE AND REHABILITATE ORPHANED AND INJURED ANIMALS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA From its cosmopolitan cities to its outstanding wilderness, Canada boasts one of the most diverse, accepting societies in the world nestled amongst the beauty of one of the largest untouched landmasses on earth. Recently, Canada was reported by the Economic Intelligence Unit to be the most livable country in the world and Vancouver the most livable city on earth!
Located approximately 90 minutes from Vancouver, this wildlife rehabilitation project provides volunteers the opportunity to become involved with this animal rescue and rehabilitation project.
This project helps in the continued conservation and protection of Canada’s diverse native animal species;- black bears
- raccoons
- opossums
- skunks
- squirrels
- coyotes
- deer
- rabbits
- beaver (such as the one on the right being held by a volunteer)
Volunteers may help in the clinic with the professional staff, with administrative duties in the office, and outside doing light construction and maintenance.
Volunteer activities may include: • Food preparation • Feeding of animals • Assisting with medical treatments • Observation and monitoring of animals • General housekeeping of the clinic • Answering phones • Record keeping • Helping outside with the facility • Maintenance of equipment • Cleaning of cages This volunteer project is very hand-on and therefore GeoVisions and the project do have additional requirements before you apply for this program. Volunters must show proof of up to date tetanus vaccine. - Volunteers must have compassion for animals, be prepared for long difficult days between April and September. You will be on duty up to 14 hours per day during those busy months and will be responsible for feedings every 2 hours.
- Driving License preferred.
- The longer you can voluntter at the project, the better (ideally 12 weeks or longer).
- No drinking or smoking on site at all.
- No guests permitted to stay overnight because of the animals.
All GeoVisions programs include accommodation. Most include meals, airport pick-up, project training, in-country support, extensive medical and accident insurance, extensive pre-departure information and onsite project orientation. |
