Have you always wanted to teach English in Spain and live like a local? This volunteer teaching assignment is in a regular community school about 40 minutes outside of Barcelona. This isn't a private “language school” but a regular community school where the local families send their children each day. You will teach students and faculty in English and coordinate your activities with the Headmaster at the school where you are placed. Your room and board is free and covered when you stay with a Spanish host family.
Deciding to teach English abroad in Thailand was definitely the easiest decision I made last year. I've been teaching English as a second language (ESL) for about a year, every weekend through a program at my school. After graduating college and getting myself a job as a 5th grade teacher, I saw many people in my life making choices about their future that I wasn’t ready to make. I saw many of my friends get married and start to settle down, but I wasn’t ready.
I wanted to travel. I wanted to experience a different country and culture. I wanted meaningful work and to engage in a new language. And I wanted to be done in a couple of months. Apparently I am a millennial.
