Volunteer Abroad And Help Save The Cheetah

Volunteer Abroad And Help Save The Cheetah

Baby CheetahAfter a year hiatus from wildlife conservation, GeoVisions is back with two really good projects involving Lions and Cheetahs.  We took a year to do a lot of investigating and risk management analysis and have come up with two very good projects.  We want to use this post to introduce you to our new Cheetah conservation project.

When was the Cheetah placed on the Endangered Species list?  Answer: June 2, 1970.  Watch Conservationist Jeff Corwan's new program airing on MSNBC this Thanksgiving Day at 11:00 a.m. ET and he'll talk about many animals only 100 heartbeats away from extinction, including the Cheetah.

What a unique opportunity to be very involved in Cheetah research and conservation.  This Cheetah project is located approximately 275 miles from Pretoria, South Africa.  The goal of the project is to create a safe environment for Cheetahs, Lions, and Leopards, as well as many other animals...but focus is on Cheetah research.  The project has established a new conservation reserve for all wildlife in the area and have started re-introducing Lions to the area after the success with the Cheetahs.  There are Leopard and Hyena research projects conducted here as well.

Volunteer with Cheetah. This is a very hands on project.

Volunteers are busy tracking, collaring and monitoring Cheetahs and other animals.  Volunteers are also involved in game capturing, management and relocation efforts.

Help is needed on vegetation management and general reserve management and maintenance, such as fence monitoring and poaching prevention.  If you are interested, there is a great community education involvement and awareness training that goes on and you can be involved if you like.
